What Dissonance? Government Data and Cool Opportunities for Entrepreneurs
Multi-billion dollar industries have been built using data from the Global Positioning System and NOAA weather satellites made public by the United States federal government. Zillow uses property data made public by governments across the nation. There’s business opportunity and community value to be found in data generated or collected by governments, including municipal governments like the City of Austin. This session will discuss work the City of Austin is doing with other public and private sector partners to unleash entrepreneur opportunities, economic and other community value found in the data it generates, especially when joined with data from the private sector or other organizations. Attendees will come away with examples of business and research potential as well as the opportunity to begin to meet players in nascent, growing industry.
