Apply to Be a Speaker

“Having an audience is a privilege, not a right. It’s exactly like wearing spandex.”
~~ Peter Shankman, Serial Entrepreneur, Social Media Guru, Investor & 2015 IEEE N3XT™ Keynote

DSC_0507IEEE N3XT™ convenes the local technical entrepreneur community, with a focus on young professionals who wish to strengthen their business development skills, learn how to make their ideas into inventions, and receive inspiration from visionary success stories.   With over 200 participants, the audience is comprised of 34% Founders, 7% VCs, and 60% Technical Entrepreneur Candidates.

Speaker Candidate Guidelines

  1. Videos are required.  Because we select from so many qualified speakers, the best way to ensure the event has the right flavor is by reviewing how the individual speakers project themselves.  If you don’t have a professionally recorded presentation, this is fine – a simple DIY video about what you plan to speak on will suffice.
  2.  N3XT has 2 tracks open for speaker submissions:
  •    Start-Up Inspiration – meant to share success stories, failure lessons, and anything you wish you knew when you were starting out
  •    The Bigger Picture – looking at the full ecosystem of entrepreneurship including: funding, intellectual property, standards, idea acceleration and creativity.

Think about where your story will fit best and what is your unique point of view to share.  Also, be sure you have an eye-catching name and a short 2-3 sentence description that we can share with attendees.   Content should be non-commercial and focused on how to grow the next generation of entrepreneurs.

  1. Bio and headshot  – Your bio should be no more than a paragraph and should include the most compelling information about you.  We welcome creative headshots – send us something that reflects your personality, but still has a professional feel.
  2. Creative Formats – we like to encourage an interactive learning experience, and different session formats such as panels, Ignite® Sessions, fishbowls, accelerators, and other ideas are welcome.
  3. Diversity of viewpoints – IEEE N3XT™ promotes diversity and speakers from different regions and backgrounds are encouraged.  Please note that any session containing more than 2 speakers is required to have a female speaker.
  4. Key takeaways – what will your audience walk away with?  How will you ensure their time and registration fee has been well spent?

Note that speakers receive one complimentary registration to the event.  Travel funding is available on a limited basis, upon request.
